Sitscape - Hackenbroich Architekten

The sitscape is a system that provides a customized seating landscape. The configuration of the sitscape is based on preferred positions of use and the dimensions of the users. As a “customized mass product” it accommodates different demands and forms within the same structural principle. The first version of this furniture piece was realized in a length of six metres for a client in Berlin.
The form extends the usual use of a couch. The design is based on specific seating positions and smooth transformations between them. The preferred relaxing positions of the client are used to generate a “perfect fit” and provide familiar possibilities for relaxing. The transitional areas between these positions are undetermined in their use. They offer new and unexpected possibilities, which will be discovered and appropriated by the users.
The sitscape is one metre wide and “infinitely” long. This organizational system has a simple construction principle of vertical sections connected by metal elements which allow the configuration of different forms within this system. The sitscape will be sold by the “metre” and the costumers have the choice of various positions which can be combined in any sequence.

The picnic - Raw Edges

Renowned design duo Raw-Edges has designed the Kvadrat stand for the Stockholm Furniture Fair 2013. The picnic features a massive wooden structure of Dinesen Douglas Fir and an installation consisting of 1,500 textile strips made from a selection of twenty different Kvadrat textiles. The designers envisioned recreating a picnic in an intimate forest atmosphere. Yael Mer and Shay Alkalay about the concept: “wooden cabin, soft roof tiles, fish skin and a picnic under a weeping willow, all mixed in a massive pot with Kvadrat swatches. Served within a commercial fair with our aspiration to create a bit of relaxing surreal situation but very warm and welcoming.” The stand is built out of two main elements: the wooden structure and the textile strips hanging from the ceiling. The wooden structure functions as display for the Kvadrat swatches and corresponds with the appearance of a wooden cabin. Made from Douglas Fir from the Danish floor company Dinesen, the horizontal wooden panels have been angled in such a way so that they can hold the textile samples, allowing the visitors a closer look. The impressive textile installation resembles vertical roof tiles and creates a three dimensional volume. Functioning as a space divider,
the strips were inspired by weeping willow trees, creating an intimate space within the big exhibition hall.

Puzzle - Bitplay

Play with time – or at least, play with your alarm clock. Puzzle makes it fun to set your alarm by letting you manipulate the numbers yourself. It is an elegant wooden box, with a front face that has four digits that are flush against the face. You physically arrange the strokes of the digital numbers in order to set the time on your alarm. When it is correctly set, the alarm icon lights up in the corner of the face.

TikTikTik - Bitplay

TikTikTik is the perfect light for reading or even just cuddling a bit before bed—or for people who otherwise forget to turn off the light! Pulling down on TikTikTik’s pull chain sets the length of time the light is on. The further you pull the chain, the longer the lamp stays on. The lamp pull retracts silently until a few minutes before the timer runs out. The light dims and then turns off.

BANG! - Bitplay

BANG! is a desk lamp with a gun-shaped remote controller. User can fire the “gun” to turn the light off. The light goes out and the lampshade knocks to the side, showing that it’s been hit. To turn it back on, simply shot it again, and the lampshade will raise up slowly and turn the light back on at the same time.

Bitplay

Why shouldn’t we have fun with our everyday objects? It’s important for things to be usable and elegant. But what if there’s the possibility of a little something more—a little bit of playfulness in how we interact with our objects?
That’s the idea behind bitplay. We design objects that have a sense of humor, that bring a little magic to our everyday interactions. Little delights can trigger something big—that’s why we’re called bitplay.
